I read somewhere that on the bike you should ask yourself every 10 min whether at that moment you could run the run mileage of your tri. If the answer is "no", you need to slow down. You are going to be slow on a hybrid, so it does make sense to save the legs for the run. Wish I had your swimming arms/lungs/speed.
